“The Flintstones” was a very popular animated sitcom, a creation of the even more popular Hannah Barbera.

Amazing Fact: it started way back on 30th September, 1960 to April 1, 1960. I saw it like 15 years ago, and thought it’s a new cartoon. Anyways, today, being the 30th September’ 2010, “The Flintstones” completes it’s 50th Anniversary. And as Fred Flintstones used to celebrate with his famous catchphrase, well “Yabba Dabba Doo” 🙂

I think i still remember all the characters from this cartoon. The story usually revolved around “Fred Flintstones” who was a prehistoric caveman, who worked in a quarry mine, walked barefoot and had a neighbor named “Barney Rubble” who himself was as troublesome as Fred. The cartoon always had some good storyline. And then there were their wives “Wilma Flintstones” and “Betty Rubbles”. Chit chatters and all that. Wasn’t a big fan of those two. Their kids however were special. “Pebbles” was the Flintstones’ daughter and she was extra-ordinarily cute. On other hand the Rubbles had a son called “Bamm Bamm”. Although he was some 2-3 year old kid but he was probably the strongest of all people in Bedrock. He could lift those huge dinosaurs with his fingertips. And he used to have a baseball club made of stone which he used to hit on the ground , making the sound like Bam! Bam! and thus i guess he was named “Bamm-Bamm”. By dinosaur, now that i remember, The Flintstones had a pet dinosaur as well. “Dino” was the name as i looked up in Google. And these prehistoric people had lot other animals like saber tooth cat, a dodo bird and Hopparoo (which was a hopping creature and a combination of Kangaroo and a dinosaur).

I really loved the gadgets that “The Flintstones” had. Even in “The Stone Age” or the prehistoric time, they had access to telephones, automobiles, dish washer, washing machines, a car phone and so many other things. It was funny how they worked it out. Humm…i can never get tired of talking about “The Flintstones”. But today, i will take this opportunity to congratulate “Hannah Barbera Productions” and “The Flintstones” and “The Rubbles” a very very “Happy 50th Anniversary”. To end, let’s tap our feet to “Meet The Flintstones” song.

Here are the lyrics if you don’t already know them 🙂

Flintstones. Meet the Flintstones.
They’re the modern stone age family.
From the town of Bedrock,
They’re a page right out of history.

Let’s ride with the family down the street.
Through the courtesy of Fred’s two feet.

When you’re with the Flintstones
you’ll have a yabba dabba doo time.
A dabba doo time.
You’ll have a gay old time.
