Twitter

Twitter

I know am pretty late in doing this, but i just signed up with Twitter.com.

Honestly, i originally saw Twitter as an useless tool. I don’t like many of the social networking sites anyways. So Twitter was no exception. But i guess something about the way it works. It really caught my attention once again. And i ended up signing up with them.

Those who do not know what Twitter is, well, it is a free social messaging utility. It is a great application to stay in touch and keeping up with your friends, no matter where you are and what you are doing. You can send instant mobile updates for friends or you can simply message via twitter from web. In summarized words, Twitter is free messaging service for friends.

Why i thought Twitter was useless?

Well, very honestly, no one cares what the hell you are up to. No one cares what you are doing. Everyone is busy in his/her own damn life. But this didn’t stop increasing number of twitters and tweets from coming up. People telling the world what they are doing in 140 characters or less.

What interested me now?

I am now on twitter. This wasn’t a sudden interest. I have been reading a lot about it in recent few days. And what i realized after all was that Twitter is not just a web application. It is a great social networking tool. But the fact that all the user status are searchable, it makes it more of a search engine. Now, i started searching for people who thought about on same lines and ended up visiting ArtFagCity.com weblog wherein i found this post on twitter.

Here are his four major point that he mentioned

“Twitter isn’t just a web app, it’s a search engine.”
“Twitter is a filter.”
“Twitter is a headline generator ideal for scanning.”
“Twitter is a semi-permeable membrane (excuse the cliche), that allows users to filter the information coming in, while maximizing the distribution outwards.”

In just four points, Twitter was compared to Google, Feedburner and Facebook. And in many ways it turned out to be better than Google or facebook. And that was it. This post prompted me to sign up with twitter immediately.

By the way, the news that Twitter is integrating a search engine on it’s homepage also prompted me for signing up, as this shows that this social networking application ain’t gonna stop ith major hurdle cleared. They are going to come into search engine industry, the move that will make them a competitor of Google or Facebook. They can surely be better than Facebook with that move but perhaps they won’t be a big threat to Google. Anyways, i see bright future for Twitter. So joining em, isn’t something worth ignoring.

Hey, if you didn’t notice. Facebook redesigned the user’s home page and the profile page. I see that more as a twiiter page now. Many have felt that this redesign is actually an attempt to compete with the real-time social messaging offered by Twitter. So tough competition ahead for everyone.

Anyways, enough of talks. I have signed up  with twitter and that’s the major news in this post . I have no followers as on yet but you can add me to your twitter if you want some crappy, useless, not bothering updates from me. :D

I will try to add you to my follow list as well. Just let me know if i don’t.

I am really really pissed off with Google. And frankly, i had enough from them. So i am taking out my frustration in here. Coz in any case, if i talk to google, all my talks are going to fall on deaf ears.

For those of who know me as a webmaster. I have four major directories. I do not have much Adsense income and really rely on my directories for my needs. Consider these directories to be my source of bread and butter. About these four directories,  AllyDirectory is the top most but other than that i really love to work on Strongest-Directory.com, XHII.com and TopDirectoryList.Org. I have  built these directories from scratch. Never sold a sitewide or any link. And i just charge for a normal listing, that being the review price. And believe me, these four directories are pretty good. In fact better than million crappy directories that come up everyday.

But you know what. Google just penalized one of these directories. Why? Google knows!

I am really tired of Google right now.And i really want to say lot of small little nice words at the moment. But this blog is supposed to family friendly, so i am just containing my anger for the moment. But you should know, if something happens to me, or if die of hunger someday, blame Google for it. And not me, there are many webmasters who feels the same way.

Directories are websites that really became popular few years back. But as we know it, popularity attracts lot more webmasters. So there came hundreds of directories on daily basis.  But 99% of them are crappy. Useless and a simple way to earn money. On the other hand, we webmasters who really worked on our directories gets insulted by Google, stripped off our pageranks and lose all our rankings. Why? Because Google can’t differentiate good from bad. Because Google lacks the basic knowledge of directories. Why it’s own directory is a copy of DMOZ. And still they go around penalizing most for duplicate content. Huh!

I did discuss these issues with some fellow webmasters. And you would have to believe one thing that everyone said. Google is a monster who wants to be fed with money every single moment. They have and will go to any limits, to make every single webmaster to advertise using Adwords and publish via Adsense.  They don’t give a damn about your life. They don’t care if you are a human being and working hard. They just want money, money and money even if they have to lay thier wall on a webmaster’s grave!

I am sorry but i really think this is very unfair. Had i been rich i would have definitely taught Google some lessons, in some way or the other. And i am almost sure that my blog is going to disappear from Google search engine after few days when someone from Google reads this post. You know, they love to crush every voice that comes up against them. They love to hide thier mistakes. So this next Pagerank update, if all my directories are stripped of ranking and pageranks and if my personal blogs is treated in same way, then you all should know, what exactly happened!

Ah! That feels good. I really needed to take out this frustration, anger, etc. And sorry if you found it boring!

Samsung SyncMaster 226BW

Samsung SyncMaster 226BW

I had been using a Samsung 19 inch LCD display since last year or so. It was pretty good and i really didn’t need a new LCD display anyways. But things turned out in a different way and i had to buy a new monitor. So i went in for a Samsung SyncMaster 226BW. That’s right, it’s a 22inch monitor. And the web looks bigger now ;)

I have trusted Samsung since long and i believe in their display units. I remember my first CRT monitor from BenQ. I bought it for 7000 INR and even though it is 17″ inch flat CRT monitor and in perfect health and shape, the resale value for that monitor is not more than 1000INR. So it’s still sitting tight in my computer peripherals almirah. However as for Samsung, i am really pleased with the picture quality, the technology, the looks of the monitor and of course, the resale value. As on now, i have three monitors, all of Samsung brand. One being 17″ TFT monitor being used by my brother. Other one being 19″ widescreen LCD display, being used by my father. And the third one that i just bought being used by me at the moment. Check out the image i have attached on right. This is what i now have and it looks really good.

Samsung SyncMaster 226BW is a 22inch flat screen computer monitor and has a high resolution of 1680×1050. This model weighs around 10.8lbs. That’s around 4.9kgs. Yes, it’s pretty heavy. But i like this mean machine. It’s got 16:10 aspect ratio which is more favorable when watching movies or any video. It accepts DVI input, so i get a pretty good, in fact better signal clarity. As for the response time, this model has it at 2ms. So this seems to be perfect for my needs, that is movies and high end gaming. ;)

Samsung SyncMaster 226BW is a value for money kinda stuff. The features you get in this monitor are pretty cool for a monitor prices this low. Oh well, i forgot mentioning the price. It’s woth $330. That’s around 16,000 INR. Of course i read all the available reviews on this monitor at all popular sites like Cnet, etc, before buying it. And i was unable to find any Cons for this machine. And now that i have been using it for a week or so, i can’t find any cons either. So it’s really pretty good!

And hey, just one more thing. I also got my computer formatted. And now am running Microsoft Vista on my PC. And yes, it is a legit copy. The experience is wonderful. The clarity and sharpness is superbly amazing. And along Vista providing graphics and all gallery stuff it does, this monitor really makes my experience, a very pleasant one! :)

Wonder why?

Well here goes the simple explanation. I am kinda privileged customer as i have hundreds of domain at GoDaddy.com, which many of you might be knowing, is a leading domain registrar. Since i have signed for hot deals and discount coupons from GoDaddy, i often receive their mail with the discount coupons. But this time around, probably a typo or non-deliberate mistake made them look a little foolish

Here is the part of mail i got:

“Save on the products YOU want! Whether you’re just getting started on the Web or want to make your existing site even better, GoDaddy.com has everything you need — including 24/7 service and support that’s second to none. If you act now, you’ll save even more off our already low prices!

Don’t miss your chance to SAVE 15% on your order!* Visit GoDaddy.com today or call (GoDaddy’s number) and use source code *********  to take advantage of this exclusive post-game deal. This special offer expires February 14, 2008, so act now!”

I am sorry. But did they say the year 2008. Oh yes they did. And in that case, i can’t act now as i am already an year too late.

I really wanted to buy some domains today. But i guess i will have to wait till GoDaddy rectify this error. As even the coupon ain’t working.

By the way, this is not an abuse or anything. I just found it to be a good humor for today. I am sure everyone including GoDaddy staff will take it in a supportive way. I know such typos/mistakes happen and can happen to anyone, anywhere, anytime. It’s just that big companies are least expected to commit such errors :D

I got up early, switched on television an hour later, while having a nice cup of morning coffee! Pretty excited about yesterday’s news of cricket match wherein India beat SriLanka which was a comprehensive win. And then i heard the news that the fuel prices got slashed. Petrol got cheaper by INR 5.00 and diesel got cheaper by INR 2.00. Even LPG cyclinders got a price cut of INR 25. Now that’s a good news for everyone. Even for me. But still i felt bad. Very bad.

Reason being that i own two cars. One petrol based and one diesel based. And i got their fuel tanks filled up, right up to the brim, yesterday morning. Damn! Only if i had knew i would have waited for another day. There was really no urgency. But…my bad luck!!

Moral of the Story: Keep up with the latest news and save some pennies!
