I have never ever followed sports like horse racing or polo or rodeo or any similar game. I think using animal for sports or betting on such beautiful creatures is unethical. That’s the only reason you probably haven’t and probably will not see any other post in my blog regarding these sports. Anyways, i was browsing through some sites and this name “Zenyatta” was all over the place. I had no idea who that was. So without wasting time, i searched Wikipedia. If Zenyatta is famous, there ought to be a page at Wikipedia. I found it and to my surprise, Zenyatta was a horse. According to information at Wiki, Zenyatta, who was foaled on 1st April 2004 in Kentucky, USA, is a racing horse. And she has been undefeated in all her 19 races. I said wow! That’s a feat. 19 starts and 19 wins, that’s a lot for anyone. Even Formula One or SuperBike Champion do not hold such a record.

Anyways, i continued with the research. Zenyatta is actually a thoroughbred racing horse. However she stand second when it comes to most wins by a horse. Amazingly, there was a horse called Kincsem which in Hungarian means “My Treasure”. He won 54 races in 54 starts. So he is far far ahead of Zenyatta. Right? So what’s the story here? Why is Zenyatta such a hot topic? I had no clue. Anyways, now that i have found out i can brag about knowing it all 😀

Zenyatta definitely has won all her races. And she has pocketed more than $6 million during these races. But what makes her special is the way she wins these races. I do not know much about Horse Racing so i will be using my own terms here. Zenyatta takes a slow start and then kind of walks just behind the rest of pack. She stays back till the 3/4th of a lap. And then i don’t know what boost she gets in the final quarter of the lap. She just sprints, flies and easily overtake all her competitors in the end. Amazing isn’t it. What style. What personality. It’s seriously is pleasure to watch all those races. Go to YouTube and search for Zenyatta. You will love it. 🙂

Zenyatta is set to retire this week. She is going for her 20th race at the Breeder’s Cup 2010. It’s not gonna be easy as this time her competition is very tough. However, it’s Zenyatta. She likes to come first in every race. She has a charming style and a charisma to win such races. I will be keeping a close look at her at this race. I pray she gets her last deserving win and retire in a style. Keep tuned for the update!

Update: It’s a heartbreaking update. Zenyatta has lost her last race. Zenyatta was second in the race. Thus making it 19-1 win-loss score. It’s really sad you know. Everyone wants to go out in style. Last race and it was so so close. If Zenyatta had stuck her tongue out, she might have win. Lol. Yes, it was that close. Zenyatta came second to a horse named Blame.  think Zenyatta’s jockey “Mike Smith” wanted to end this race in style. But he let the rest of pack get too far ahead and in the end Zenyatta just couldn’t make it to number one. But i loved the photo-finish. However the result that Zenyatta was second, i really didn’t like it. Anyways, that’s it from Breeder’s Cup 2010. And that’s it for Zenyatta, as she retired after the race. Have fun!
